Following earlier insights on where AI adoption stalls before showing up in standard metrics, leaders must translate subtle adoption signals and blind spots into practical, actionable interventions.
This 75-minute hands-on working lab pressure-tests where adoption gets stuck, uncovers the human and workflow friction underneath, and builds a concrete playbook for enterprise execution. Supported by human and digital co-facilitation, participants challenge assumptions, surface hidden patterns, and sharpen strategic interventions in real time.
Led by Nicole DeFalco, Carl Du, Serena Huang, Christopher Lind, and BARYONS AI Mentor, this working lab equips leaders to walk away with a clear playbook on what to watch, where to intervene, and how to help AI truly take hold in daily operations.

<h3>What we heard</h3>
Small groups picked a blind spot from Serena's keynote, built a playbook with AI, then let an AI red team it. What the AI missed came up fast: trust, psychological safety, and a decision about what saved time is for.

<blockquote>"Innovation is frequently driven by 'Do or Die's,' not 'Eureka's.'" -- <a href="https://www.ele.llc/members/julian-malnak" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Julian Malnak</a></blockquote>
This session provided a compelling perspective on how the pressures of competition and customer expectations often shape innovation, rather than moments of sudden inspiration. For senior HR talent leaders, this insight serves as a call to action: we must align talent strategies with these high-stakes imperatives to ensure our teams are prepared to thrive in fast-changing environments.
<h3>Key Takeaways:</h3>
<ol>
 	<li>Adaptability is Essential: Recognize and respond to the "Do or Die" moments in your organization by fostering a culture of agility and experimentation.</li>
 	<li>Embrace Unlearning: Just as businesses transform, HR and L&amp;D must shed outdated practices to remain relevant and impactful.</li>
 	<li>Modernize Learning Approaches: Deliver learning experiences that are accessible, timely, and aligned with the needs of today’s workforce, much like the "chunked and pithy" formats that outperform traditional programs.</li>
 	<li>Bridge Generational Gaps: Facilitate knowledge transfer across generations, especially as technology and change disrupt traditional ways of working.</li>
</ol>
By understanding that innovation stems from urgency rather than serendipity, HR leaders can position their teams as proactive partners in driving organizational transformation. Let's rethink how we approach learning, development, and leadership in the face of today’s rapid changes.

Fireside Chat: What is the Key to Creating the Future of Learning? with Ravin Jesuthasan, co-author of Work Without Jobs, and Shweta Srivastava.

Everyone wants to know the answer to this question.

“What skills will matter to you and your organization in the future?”

The answer to this question depends on your perspective, where you work in the organization, and your area of expertise.

If you don’t solve this riddle with agility, curiosity, and smart technology capabilities, your organization will risk irrelevance or fade from existence.

Organizations spend billions of dollars yearly on reskilling and upskilling for their employees to ensure corporate relevance and cultivate a competitive edge during accelerated change. In turn, they want to serve their customers and partners with products, offerings, and skills that create value in revenues and loyal relationships.

Solving the future skills puzzle requires a more practical approach than crystal ball gazing. The solution must transform the chaos of disparate spreadsheets, talent erosion, and skills gaps into smart skills planning.

Skills-First Talent Practices

Storytelling and rich, interesting detail abound in this book about 11 innovations ranging from the printing press to Julia Child and the Art of French Cooking to the iPhone. The author was a student and colleague of Clayton Christensen, his research, and his leadership in strategy and innovations. using the premise of "history may not repeat, but it often rhymes", Anthony tackles misunderstandings about disruption, how innovation is created and achieved, the qualities of the leaders driving the disruption, and impact through the generations. His premise is that innovation is "predictably unpredictable", but there are clear patterns "on the road to success".

The stories are compelling while he builds a case for each example to answer four questions: Who does is? Is it random? Is it accelerating? Is it a universal good?

This is a deeply interesting and compelling read in the age of AI Evolution/Revolution. It isn't always good. What struck me the most is how people, society, and government policy evolves and changes to to be able to better live -make sense of in our lives - with the disruption and the changes to status quo.

In recent years, corporate learning has made great strides by borrowing from the experience economy. We replaced tedious slide decks with interactive workshops, gamified learning tracks, and immersive leadership retreats. Yet, many executive teams face a frustrating paradox: employees love the experiences, but six months later, workplace behaviors remain virtually unchanged. The excitement fades, but the underlying capabilities have barely shifted.
In The Transformation Economy: Guiding Customers to Achieve Their Aspirations, B. Joseph Pine II takes his famous economic progression to its ultimate frontier. While experiences are memorable, they are inherently fleeting. Transformations, however, are permanent. Applied internally, this book offers a profound blueprint for talent leaders to move past staging temporary learning events and begin acting as true transformation guides—helping people achieve their highest professional aspirations and sustained performance gains.

When an enterprise operates as a transformation guide, the "customer" of L&amp;D is not just acquiring knowledge; they are undergoing a deliberate personal evolution. Pine outlines three fundamental stages required to drive authentic transformation:

<ul style="padding-left: 25px; margin-bottom: 2.5rem;">
 	<li style="margin-bottom: 1.2rem;">Diagnosing Aspirations (The Blueprint Stage): Transformation cannot be copy-pasted across a workforce. Leaders must engage in deep, individual diagnostics to understand not just what skills an employee lacks today, but who they aspire to become tomorrow. Real change occurs at the intersection of individual ambition and strategic business goals.</li>
 	<li style="margin-bottom: 1.2rem;">Staging Transformative Experiences (The Catalyst Stage): Experiences remain vital, but in this economy, they serve a higher purpose: acting as deliberate catalysts for change. Training events are explicitly designed to challenge existing mental models, disrupt comfort zones, and spark the mindset shifts necessary for personal growth.</li>
 	<li style="margin-bottom: 1.2rem;">Guiding the Integration (The Sustenance Stage): The true work of transformation happens long after the workshop ends. Guides must construct long-term accountability structures, peer coaching, and reflective feedback loops to ensure new habits take root in daily operations until they become part of the employee's professional identity.</li>
</ul>

<hr style="border: 0; border-top: 1px solid #eee; margin: 2.5rem 0;" />

<h4 style="font-size: 1.75rem; color: #1a1a1a; margin-top: 2.5rem; margin-bottom: 1.2rem; border-left: 5px solid #cc0000; padding-left: 15px; text-align: left; line-height: 1.3;">Why It Matters for the ELE Community</h4>
For the senior HR, talent, and L&amp;D leaders within the ELE network, Pine’s work sets a new benchmark for strategic human capital investment:

<ul style="padding-left: 25px; margin-bottom: 2.5rem;">
 	<li style="margin-bottom: 1.2rem;">Evolving HR into Transformation Guides: It redefines the role of the talent practitioner from an administrative service provider or event coordinator to an indispensable strategic partner who guides human potential to fuel corporate ambition.</li>
 	<li style="margin-bottom: 1.2rem;">Solving the Behavior-Change Gap: By focusing on long-term sustenance rather than short-term satisfaction scores, L&amp;D executives can build capability frameworks that deliver measurable, sustained operational ROI to executive stakeholders.</li>
 	<li style="margin-bottom: 1.2rem;">Unlocking Deep Employee Engagement: Top talent rarely leaves organizations that actively help them realize their career aspirations. Aligning corporate performance goals with genuine personal development creates an unbreakable bond of shared growth and retention.</li>
</ul>

<hr style="border: 0; border-top: 1px solid #eee; margin: 2.5rem 0;" />

<div style="font-style: italic; color: #444; background-color: #f4f4f4; padding: 30px; border-radius: 12px; border-right: 5px solid #cc0000;">The ultimate value an organization can create does not lie in the services it delivers or the experiences it stages, but in the human transformation it enables. When we shift our talent strategy from delivering content to guiding personal and professional aspirations, we build resilient, high-performing workforces capable of continuous self-renewal. Let's stop hosting events and start guiding real transformation.</div>
